We have an update from CPR Padre Feijoo Zorelle! They have received the traveling notebook from Zhoushan Senior High School and they have added an entry including information about traditional Galician costumes, cuisine, poetry, music, sports, and other subjects. We are positive that our friends in China will thoroughly enjoy learning about these different cultural aspects.

Traveling Notebook (High Schools): SNEAK PEEK II
Our friends from Padre Feijoo Zorelle in Ourense have been working really hard to create a nice traveling notebook. Would you like to take a peek and see what they have written?

Meet the Schools: CPR PADRE FEIJOO ZORELLE
CPR PADRE FEIJOO ZORELLE
Colexio Padre Feijoo-Zorelle is a co-educational privately run school funded by the State for ages 3-18. There are 34 teachers and 402 students divided into 4 main stages: Infant education (3-6 years); Primary education (6-12 years); Secondary compulsory education (12-16 years) ;Baccalaureate (16-18 years).

Ourense is the capital of the province of the same name in Galicia. It is traditionally known as "The City of Water" because water is the element that led to the original settlement on the territory. Eight bridges cross the River Miño in Ourense, which in Roman times was a gold mine. Today nothing remains of this precious metal, yet the town still offers another treasure: thermal spring waters. They are all over the province and spring at 65°C in the very centre of town, in the thermal spring fountain As Burgas, which is located just 450 metres from our school.
Our school has recently adopted project-based teaching as a methodological approach because it helps children and teenagers engage in their learning in a motivating, meaningful, creative and collaborative way. Here you have the links to some of the projects students and teachers are now working on:
From Ourense to the World: Postcrossing at Padre Feijoo Zorelle
We have joined Postcrossing to let the world discover our hometown while we get a taste of different places, cultures and communities!
Secondary school students run a podcast channel in English to which they submit weekly audio files. You can listen to them here.
Secondary school students have embarked on a project to teach science to younger students. For such a purpose they run a blog, a podcast channel and an online TV channel, and they also organise a yearly Science Week. They have been awarded the Peonza de Bronce- Espiral Edublogs for Best Students’ Blog in Spain.
Padre Feijoo –Zorelle students and teachers love reading! Together with our weekly “reading time” at the school library, we organize a yearly book festival to celebrate the existence of books. Its programme includes a wide variety of activities and events: debates, creative writing workshops, theatre and music performances, interviews to authors, video-conferences, exhibitions…Click here to take a look at the 2015 programme.
Another project we would like to share with you is “Proxecto Escola Saudable”, whose aim is to raise students’ awareness on the importance of growing healthily, helping them to become active citizens who do their bit for society and for the environment.
Sports and music also play an important part in our school’s day to day life! We have a basketball team, a football team and a very talented choir. They have organised many fundraising events and have recently launched an international charity project, Smiley Water, to raise funds that may help improve and enhance the protection and care of refugee children and their families:
