The variety of schools joining in this project is really proving to be very enriching for us all. There are nursery schools, primary and secondary schools and schools for adults. We are also really pleased to have Nerys and her children participating in the project. She has kindly written a description for us:
NERYS'S HOME SCHOOL
Goondiwindi (Australia) |
G'day (Hello)
Our school is very different as we are a home school. In Australia you are legally allowed to home school your children. In Queensland you can register through the Education Department. You provide a curriculum plan for the year that has to be approved and at the end of the year provide a report on the progress of your students over that year.
My kids are in primary and are in years 1 -4 so we are able to learn together. It gives us the flexibility to take advantage of great learning opportunities like this travelling notebook project.
We live near Goondiwindi in Queensland. Goondiwindi is aboriginal for resting place of the birds. It is on the border with New South Wales. There are about 6,000 people living in the area. it is a country town. It is inland and about 350 k's from Brisbane the capital of Queensland.
We are really looking forward to learning more about you and where you live as well as sharing with you our school and area.
Thanks you for this fantastic opportunity :)
Thank YOU, Nerys and your family for joining us!
