Saint Paul Writing His Epistles (1618-1620) by Valentin de Boulogne Today's painting depicts the Apostle Paul, a lover of letter-writing whose 13 epistles are collected in the Bible. The Letters of Paul are among my favourite. They address many dilemmas, presenting many well-reasoned arguments and tempered with loving thoughts. The painting is attributed to Valentin de Boulogne, French (1591–1632), but also alternatively to Nicolas Tournier, French (1590–c. 1639).
