II Postcrossing Meetup: End Products

Last Saturday, October 29th we celebrated the II Galician Postcrossing Meetup in Cabana de Bergantiños (Galicia, Spain). Personally, I am very happy to see the acceptance of these events in Galicia, since last April we organized the first meetup in our community, and the original plan was to hold it once a year. However, since there was demand to have another one, we said, why not?

Since we think teenagers are key in these events, we had previously  (October 11) had a workshop at the school, CPI As Revoltas, and we were very glad to see some of the students who attended the workshop join us on that day.

We had also sent out notice, mainly using social networks, of the meetup, and the school was very happy to receive many cards from different generous souls from different countries and from our own. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your generosity! Many thanks for the beautiful cards and the well-chosen words.

They were very welcome among students and created a lot of excitement, and are now displayed at the school library for everyone's enjoyment.

The event went as planned and we started out with a treasure hunt around Cabana and the promenade. Then we had the chance to chitchat and get to know each other better as we went on a hike together, along the Rego dos Muíños, a walk that took us along the river and gave us the opportunity to do some physical exercise, enjoy the landscape, see 24 watermills which can be seen along the riverside and pick up some chestnuts.

After lunch, we met at Dolmen de Dombate, where there was a small exhibition with part of my personal collection of postcards, and where we spent some time writing the cards (specially designed and printed for the meetup), decorating them and choosing an appropriate stamp.

"Lavandeiras", a musical and theatrical performance by Daboapipa, with many references to letters and writing, provided the perfect wrap-up for the event.

All these postcards have already been mailed and we hope they will reach their recipients soon!

Looking forward to our next meetup!
