Letters in Music: "Love Letters"

Elvis Presley (1935-1977) is one of the most influential musicians of all times. Rolling Stone encyclopedia of Rock and Roll describes Presley as "an American music giant of the 20th century who single-handedly changed the course of music and culture in the mid-1950s".

In this song, "Love Letters", from his 1971 album with the same name, his voice is all there, as is his style and his more intimate side.

"Love Letters"

Love letters straight from your heart
Keep us so near while apart
I'm not alone in the night
When I can have all the love you write

I memorize ev'ry line
I kiss the name that you sign
And darlin', then I read again right from the start
Love letters straight from your heart.
