James Clarke White (1832–1920), was an Australian painter. He was a very prolific artist, yet I was unable to find details about his life and work on the Internet.
In any case, here, once again as in many of the paintings we have included in this blog, a classical landscape with a woman holding a letter in the foreground. Is she the recipient or just the deliverer?
