As I posted in this blog, on November 27, I gave a creative writing workshop at EOI Santiago where I presented different aspects of our project and showed attendants the many possibilities available to them if they were interested in corresponding with other people in English.

After that, we did several collaborative creative writing exercises. One of them was inspired by Diana Ali's blog. She is a visual artist and curator who has exhibited in group shows in London, Sheffield, Manchester and solo in Hanley. Her practice involves drawing, installation and text work. She is interested in correspondence, networking and connectivity and researches the use of collaboration through her curatorial projects.
Her post-authorship project consists in asking participants to write down a quote on a blank postcard. It can be something they heard a passer-by say or it could be from an inspirational iconic figure. This postcard is then passed onto someone in a different country who interprets the quote visually on the same postcard but on the reverse side. Eventually all postcards are sent to the original place of distribution and collected as a mass piece of collaborative work.
In our case, what students in Santiago did was the first part, writing some quotes. Then, students in our satellite school in Ribeira did the second part, which was interpret the quote visually in whichever way they wanted. Here are the very creative, eclectic results.
We will now display the resulting cards in the Biblioteca Pública Municipal de Ribeira, as part of the exhibition for the First Galician Postcrossing Meetup, and after that, they will be mailed to the students in EOI Santiago who originally wrote the quotes. We will also follow their reactions with the hashtag #snailmaileoisantiago.
I would like to thank ALL STUDENTS participants and also my supportive team of teachers in our satellite school in Ribeira.
