As
Amanda Chatel points out in her
blog entry, while people’s final words definitely make a lasting impression, the fact is that if you really want to seal to the deal and make generations remember you forever and ever, you have to put it in stone. If that’s the route you’re going to take, then you need to decide if you want to make them weep or make them laugh, the latter being far more difficult, of course. I have compiled some from articles like
this one for you to enjoy.
"I'm a writer, but then nobody's perfect" - a play on the last words spoken in his award-winning film Some Like It Hot |
"That's all folks" - the Looney Tunes cartoons' pervasive influence |
"I had a lover's quarrel with the world" - Frost's literary talent even in his epitaph |
"Dear God: Thanks" - shortest thank you letter ever |
"The best is yet to come" - Sinatra, optimistic till the very end |
"I will not be right back after this message" - don't expect a call back |
"You can laugh but I will get the last laugh"
(Alvin Starks)
