Letters in Painting: A Girl Writing

Enfant écrivant by Henriette Browne
Henriette Browne (1829-1901) was a French Orientalist painter who was also one of the three female founder members of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1862.

In this painting, she chooses a young girl who is writing a letter or doing homework but gets distracted by a little bird. I love the light focusing on her neckline.
