Words in Poems: Svetlana Astretsova

El poeta ante el auditorio

(1990)

Traveling Notebooks: MALAYSIA'S NOTEBOOK IN CHINA

Alina, from China has sent us an update about the traveling notebook they received from Malaysia about one month and a half ago.

Last month, Zhoushan Senior High School had an "Art and Culture" festival and, since they had the traveling notebook from Malaysia, they organized several activities around it and had it on display.

She has kindly sent us some pictures which you can see below:

We are really glad that traveling notebooks are being used to learn more about culture and languages across the globe and that they integrate in our school activities.

Malaysia's notebook will now travel from China to Russia, to Ulyanovsk school nº 76.

We hope it has a safe trip!

Meet the Schools: ULYANOVSK SCHOOL Nº 76

One other school joining this project is located in Russia, in Ulyanovsk. Ulyanovsk (Russian: Улья́новск) is the administrative centre of Ulyanovsk Oblast, Russia, located on the Volga River, 893 kilometers east from Moscow.

The teacher in charge of coordinating this project, Galina, introduces her school for us:

ULYANOVSK SCHOOL Nº 76

Our school is a state secondary school. In Russia schools usually have no special names. They have only a serial number. So we have number 76. Children aged between 7 to 17 study in the school. So they study at school for 11 years. They have different subjects in their timetable: Russian, Russian Literature, of course, History, Biology, Geography, Chemistry (in the 8-11th forms), Art, Music, English, Physical Education, Information Technology and others.
School life is merry and interesting. Last year my students made a short video about our school. They explained about it in Russian and in English. Hopefully you’ll appreciate it!

Thank you very much, Galina and all the Russian students for this nice introduction to your school. And thank you for joining our project!
