As we had said in a previous post, our EOI in Santiago has 5 satellite schools in IES de Sar, IES Número 1 de Ribeira (ours), IES Número 1 de Ordes, IES Virxe do Mar and IES Xulián Magariños. The head of studies in the latter, Dolores Gómez, whom I look up to as a teacher and appreciate dearly as a person, is also collaborating in the traveling notebook project. They are currently working on adding their entries in the notebooks from EOI Los Cristianos, in the Canary Islands.

Traveling Notebook: SNEAK PEEK (XI)
As you know from this previous entry, we have CEIP do Castro's notebook. Our Basic 1 students had added their contribution, but we thought we could add one other dimension by including some film reviews.
How did we do it?
Advanced 2 students chose some movies that they had really enjoyed, prepared a film review in the way we would normally do in class, except with a tighter time frame (15-20') to write them.
I quickly gave some feedback and then we used my cell phone to record the texts with Spreaker. They are short audio files, ranging in length from 40 seconds to 3 minutes, but which give a good overview of the film being discussed.
Finally, I just created some QR codes linking them to the audio recordings.
And that's it! Now students who receive the notebook will have the chance of doing a very simple activity: matching the posters of the movies with the corresponding audio text.
It's so simple!

Traveling Notebook: Three Traveling Notebooks (from Malaysia, Russia and Spain) Are Displayed in China
Alina, who is a high school student at Zhoushan Senior High School and our contact for the traveling notebook project, has sent us some photos from an event they recently held at their school welcoming students from Hong Kong for some cultural communicating activities. Alina (holding an iPad in the photographs) presented how the traveling notebook works and displayed the three books.
Next week, they are planning to put up some posters about the notebooks so that more students know about the project.

We are really glad that traveling notebooks are being used to learn more about culture and languages across the globe and that they integrate in our school activities.
Malaysia's notebook will now travel from China to Russia, to Ulyanovsk school nº 76.
We hope it has a safe trip!

She has sent us some photos which are really self-explanatory and constitute the best description of their school. A picture is worth a thousand words! You can see the location of their school, the building, the beautiful multilingual traveling notebook they have put together, and the creative souls behind the amazing notebook: 1 year primary students.
